Day One

What an early start to the day!

After a couple of flights I have arrived with my friends at Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul. Turkey. How exciting!

Our first job was to find the cheapest way to get from the airport to Sultanahmet - the tourist part of Istanbul.

We chose to take a taxi for 15 million Lira! Riding in a taxi in Istanbul is like being in a Play Station game, where all the rules are in a language you don't understand, and you don't get another chance if you crash!

Safely in Sultanahmet, and after finding somewhere to stay, we went shopping at a local market - or bazaar as the locals call them. The shop owners are very friendly, and keep calling out, "Come into my shop and I give you good deal." I soon discovered that if I haggled over the price I could get things cheaper. We all had a lot of fun!

For dinner, we decided to have a souvelaki. The food was fantastic. So much flavour.

Beats grubs and insects any day!
